The most common question is, "How much are you?" If you are asking that question, then we have great news for you. We offer several different packages in an effort to have something for everyone who is serious about the entertainment for their event.
Taking into account how much an event costs to throw, the per hour break-down is astounding. Divide how much will your whole event will cost by how many hours it will last. To use a very conservative example, a 5 hour, $8000 event costs over $1500 per hour! So, if you could find that perfect entertainer who will keep your party going strong even a 1/2 hour longer, that should be worth $750 right there. This should easily help you justify going with the best, and not just settle for good.
Sure, go with the cheapest if you don't care to have one of the best. Just because you were referred to someone doesn't mean that vendor comes with a guarantee. On numerous occasions we have seen ministers, photographers, and videographers show up very late or not at all. The worst part of these tragedies was that the clients were referred to these vendors by a list. In each case, the clients had a false sense of security by simply assuming that the vendors were the best. In fact, locations often have to offer recommendations for vendors in lower price brackets to offer something for their clients who don't want to spend as much. The problem is that the event does not go off as great as it could have.
If they're on a list, then they must be great, right? Please don't assume this. Just check it out yourself to be sure. Here are some warning signs:
As important as your event is, please don't assume anything. Do your due diligence by checking on your vendors and their references. Again, DJs, like every other service out there charge what they're worth. If the value they deliver didn't match their price, then no one would be hiring them.
The following is not just a cliché, "If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is." Our competitive Southern California market demands that DJs pretty much charge what they're worth. There are literally hundreds of DJs in Southern California that are booked every weekend, and they charge well over $1000 for their services. If you run across a sub-$1000 DJ, please immediately beg this question, "Why does this guy have to charge so little to fill his calendar when other guys work just as many jobs a year or more for a much higher price?"
Look, if you find a DJ that is better and cheaper, then you would be silly not to snatch him up right away. The fact is though, people are more apt to say something like this, "I found another DJ for about $500 less than the best guy I interviewed. He's good, but not great like the other guy." So, really what's happening here is that someone is settling for good instead of great in order to save $500. There are a ton of other areas to save $500 that won't make such a huge impact on the event. With a great DJ, your guests will be saying, "This is the most fun I've ever had at an event like this." They will comment, "This is the best DJ we've ever seen." With just a good DJ, you may save $500, but it will be the difference between an everyday event and the event of a lifetime. Especially when it comes to entertainment, guests are fired up with spectacular talent.
